Animal Control
The Health Department shares animal control duties with the Animal Control Officer who is based in the Hudson Police Department. We are the regulatory authority for making sure animals are kept under sanitary conditions. If you wish to keep animals other than typical household pets (cats, dogs, caged birds, fish), you are required to follow our regulation titled The Control of Keeping of Animals in the Town of Hudson Regulation # 07-1, superseding 95-4. Updated in July of 2024, the Board of Health now requires the owners of chickens to obtain a permit. Hudson prohibits the keeping of roosters on properties under 60,000 square feet.
To file a complaint about the keeping of animals, please contact the Health Department by email or phone at health@townofhudson.org or 978-562-2020.
