Important Message from the Hudson Health Department re: Plastics Reduction

The Hudson Board of Health is working with Green Hudson, Hudson's environmental group, on their Plastic Reduction Initiative. Green Hudson is proposing a Town bylaw (regulation) that would require businesses to stop using and selling certain plastic products, such as Styrofoam takeout containers, straws, plastic utensils and more. This is a change that would directly impact businesses, in particular food establishments, and therefore it is very important to the Board of Health and to Green Hudson that we fully understand how this will impact your business, that we receive your input and feedback, and that you have a chance to ask questions to fully understand the proposed changes.

The Health Department and Green Hudson are co-hosting Listening Sessions to discuss. Please see the attached flyers for more information; available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The Listening Sessions are scheduled for January 28th (9am) and 29th (2pm). Spanish and Portuguese translation will be available. If you require a different language, please email the Health Department (health@townofhudson.org) and we will get that setup for you. If you are unable to attend either of the sessions, please email us and we will be happy to schedule additional meeting times.

*** To help us gather more information, we are asking that all food establishments in Hudson complete a brief survey related to your current practices and products used. Below are the survey links in 3 languages: ***

Attached are several informational documents for your review.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter! As this proposed regulation will have a direct effect on your business, please take some time to read this email, review the related documents, and complete the survey linked above.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions/concerns. Green Hudson can also be reached directly at info@greenhudson.org.
